Days after dictator Chun Doo-hwan declares free elections, poor men at the bottom end of society spend their nights in a comic bookshop run by the beautiful woman they know as a woman. Three of these men start working in the shop. Dong-pal is a gangster fleeing a rival gang; Ki-young is a work activist wanted by the police, and Eugene is a young writer whose work has been considered subversive. This is the story of how ordinary people, dreaming only of a happy life, inadvertently fall into the repressive society of the 1980s.
