Tae Su, a young, promising businessman and happily married family man, loses everything overnight as he signs a friend's guilt. His wife can not bear the thought of selling her posh apartment and suggests divorcing on paper. Tae Su agrees and tries to escape the creditors in a dreary, damp Gosiwon or cheap shelter for the poor with cabin-like single rooms. There is a precocious teenage girl Se Ra in him, but it does not take long for her father to intervene.
