"My heart is still broken" tells the story and the fight of Granny Song Sin Do, who is constantly trying to make amends in the matter of the consolation women who had taken women into sexual slavery for Japanese troops during the war. Despite having lost the trial, her statement "My soul is undefeated," reveals her desire to continue fighting for justice to heal the scars caused by war and history Prejudice.
Song Sin Do escaped a forced marriage at the age of 16 when she was lured to the Japanese front by saying, "You can live alone if you go to the front." Then she was forced into sexual slavery for 7 years. A Japanese soldier who promised to live with her and take care of her threw her immediately after his arrival in Japan. She has since lived with a Korean man without intercourse. Song Sin Do is Japanese-Korean nationality and as a former "Comfort Woman" she says that she can hardly trust anyone because of wartime atrocities.
