This drama shows the difficult life of women in the aftermath of the Korean War. One woman was miserable because she could not produce a boy who would continue the family line according to Confucian tradition. Another woman was miserable because the war cost her husband's life, and she had to support her younger brother, and she lived with a married man to produce a boy to continue the married man's family line.
